Virginia Wright-Peterson is the author of Women of Mayo Clinic: The Founding Generation (2016),  published by Minnesota Historical Society Press and a finalist for a Minnesota Book Award. . She became the first Fulbright Scholar appointed in Algeria when the program resumed in 2004 after the Black Period. In 2007, she served on a military base in Iraq with the American Red Cross, where she maintained a weekly blog, “On Deployment Now.” She has been awarded a Minnesota State Arts Board grant and was the 2008 winner of the Paul Gruchow Writing Contest. She has a Ph.D. in English from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and fourteen years of experience teaching English, Humanities, and Philosophy.  She currently teaches writing at University of Minnesota Rochester.
