Virginia Wright-Peterson, Ph.D. is an author, educator, and speaker whose work explores the intersections of place, history, and identity. Drawing on her deep connections to Minnesota and her passion for storytelling, she crafts narratives that provide provocative perspectives on what we thought we knew.
Virginia Wright-Peterson is the author of three finalists for the Minnesota book award. Each one reveals little known stories of courage, innovation, and resilience including women who made significant contributions during World War II and the founding of Mayo Clinic. A book on her hometown, Rochester, Minnesota, reveals stories that were virtually unknown and call for reflection. She strives to blend meticulous research with vivid stories that reveal the inspirational and courageous actions of everyday people. Virginia also believes that stories – whether rooted in family, community, or landscape – hold the power to connect and strengthen us.
When she is not researching, reading, or writing, Virginia enjoys spending time with her family and friends in southeastern Minnesota and tending to her ten acres, which exists on the ancestral land of the Dakota and Ho-Chunk people and includes a small, entertaining flock of chickens.
